Upcoming event in the Liberal Breakfast series: “Greek Parliamentary Elections: A case of deus ex machina for the debt crisis?”

Wednesday, 25 April 2012, 8.00-9.30h

In a regular election cycle, the next Greek Parliament elections would be held in 2013. However, early elections are expected as a result of the agreement of the coalition government, voted into power in November 2011, to ratify and implement the decisions agreed to with other Eurozone countries. With the date of the early elections to the Greek Parliament set for May 6, the question remains what impact the outcome will have on the reform process in Greece. Will the new government continue the course of austerity measures and debt-exchange programme set in motion in March? Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, Member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) will share his insights.
