Upcoming event: “Will new EU data protection rules stifle or stimulate the digital market?”

Technological progress and globalisation have changed the way our data is collected and used. In January, the European Commission
proposed a reform of the EU’s 1995 data protection rules to strengthen online privacy rights and boost Europe’s digital economy.

Alexander Alvaro MEP, Vice-President of the European Parliament, Anthony Whelan, Head of the Cabinet of Neelie Kroes, Commissioner for Digital Agenda and Vice-President of the European Commission, Dr Michael Backes, Professor for Information Security and Cryptography at the Department of Computer Science of Saarland University and Peter J. Bisa, Executive Director of TACTUM Agency for Technology, Technology Marketing and Consulting will discuss the repercussions of the changes on the consumers’ trust and the economic growth.

The event will be moderated by Matthew Dalton of the Wall Street Journal.
