Upcoming event: “Myanmar’s remarkable reforms: Disciplined democracy one year on”

Wednesday, 16 May 2012, 12.30-14.30h

A bit more than a year ago, Myanmar was still under dictatorial rule. Since Thein Sein became president, the country has been undergoing major changes: He released hundreds of political prisoners, allowed more press freedom, made it possible for Aung San Suu Kyi’s party to register and win seats in the parliamentary by-elections in April this year. Moritz Kleine-Brockhoff has witnessed these changes as the foundation’s Project Director Myanmar. He has repeatedly talked to both Aung San Suu Kyi and government representatives and will share his insights into the current political situation.
