In Brussels, there are about 15,000 lobbyists who try to influence European decision-makers in their favor. Besides the lack of transparency, it is often pointed to the lack of democratic legitimacy of legislation that passed under such conditions. The lobbying scandal which led to the resignation of Commissioner Dalli, coupled with the intense lobbying that is part of the negotiations for a new data protection regulation have sparked the debate about the influence of lobbyists anew. The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom invites you to a panel discussion on how to deal with this reality.
Speakers include Wolf-Dieter Zumpfort, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Pascal Kerneis, Managing Director of the European Services Forum (ESF) and Christian Linder, Member of the Cabinet of Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič. The event will be moderated by Hendrik Kafsack, Correspondent of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
