FNF retreat in Washington

For the first biannual retreat in 2015, our regional office met in Washington, D.C. We were honored to welcome Dr. Wolfgang Gerhardt, Chairman of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, to our round. ??????????

Together with colleagues from Brussels, Prague, Potsdam and Washington, we discussed current political developments in our project region such as in Greece, Hungary or the U.S. We also exchanged ideas and best practices and brainstormed about new projects. ??????????In meetings with partners from think tanks, politics, and media, we received many background information on topical issues of American domestic and foreign politics such as TTIP, the Ukraine conflict, US-Israel relations and the upcoming presidential campaign.

??????????

In different side-events, we got to know partners of our colleagues from the DC office and were able to strike up and deepen our transatlantic friendships. We were very happy to be able to show our comic exhibition “Animate Europe” to an interested audience at a lunchtime event on current politics in Germany.

DCLast but not least, we did miss the famous Washington cherry blossom by a few days – what a good reason to return one day!
