The Greek office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) recently welcomed several members of the Austrian Parliament in Athens. During their four day stay, the intergroup delegation headed by NEOS spokesperson Christoph Vavrik wanted to get first-hand impressions of the situation in Greece with regard to the economic development, the refugee crisis and the bilateral relations.
After a rather disappointing meeting with representatives of SYRIZA, the FNF brought the group or parliamentarians together with Haris Theoharis, who is an independent Member of the Greek Parliament and a former Secretary for Public Revenues. The 45 year-old politician is also a long-time political partner of FNF and one of the few well-known and sincere liberal reformists in Greece.
The Austrians had a comprehensive session with Mr. Theoharis, discussing various aspects of the contemporary Greek problems as well as the future of European integration, repeating the necessity of even closer cooperation between the member states. It was one of the more positive meetings the group had during their stay in Athens.
