Where? Co.Station, Parvis Sainte-Gudule 5, 1000 Brussel

What is a Hackathon?

Hackathons are a design sprint-like event, where groups of participants develop projects or products as part of a creative problem solving process. The participants are faced with a technological, political or social issue that they have to find innovative solutions to, while receiving topical inputs and mentoring by experts in the field.

How does it work?

The Brussels Hackathon is a 2-day workshop, where like-minded liberal people will form groups of 4 to solve a hot problem of our time: how to promote community engagement for a greener society.

Sustainability is key in the global fight against climate change and promotion of environmental protection. Although we have to hold politicians and industries accountable and influence them to ensure sustainable change, grassroots-initiatives and community engagement play a substantial role in achieving these goals as well. It is now your turn to come up with innovative ideas and projects to create awareness and tackle these issues.

During the event, the groups will receive topical input and mentoring sessions by experts from the relevant field, in order to gain more insight and develop their innovative idea/project.

Notes: The event will be taking place in English. We will be providing wifi, flipcharts and writing material and encourage you to bring your laptops. The event will finish around noon, on the 21st of October.

Is there any prize?

All groups will present their finished projects on Monday 21st October. The winning group will receive a prize money of 1.000 EUR. But wait, there is more! The winning team will win a trip to the FNF Global Innovation Congress in Berlin, on 6 November 2019, with all their expenses covered by the Foundation. There, they will have the chance to present their project and take part in different panels and workshops. Should the winning project be of interest to FNF and/or their partners, we will also facilitate the team to voice their project with relevant entities.
