ENoP launches profile paper “Political Foundations: Development Cooperation between State and Society”

Bildquelle: IUFEThe working group “Development Assistance” launched its profile paper “Political Foundations: Development Cooperation between State and Society” in the Austrian National Parliament, upon invitation of the Austrian ENoP member organization PolAk this week. Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom is member of the working group and contributed to the paper with best practice examples from its own work.

The paper was introduced to members of the Austrian Parliament, the European parliamentarians with Africa (AWEPA), the parliamentary North-South Dialogue as well as representatives of civil society. The participants discussed the role that political foundations can play towards more coherence and effectiveness in development cooperation. Continue reading

ENoP holds annual General Assembly

ENoPThis week FNF joined the other member organizations of the European Network of Political Foundations for the annual General Assembly. The ENoP members discussed the strategic positioning of the network in the future and elected its new leadership: Andrea E. Ostheimer, Programme Director of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Brussels has been elected as new Network Coordinator whereas Ulrika Lång, Head of Operations, Olof Palme International Center, Sweden became the new Deputy Coordinator. FNF is represented in the network by Alba Ҫako who also acts as Treasurer of ENoP since 2011.

Exchange with young activists from Yemen

IMG_0423This week FNF welcomed a small delegation of youth and women activists from Yemen in its Brussels office.  As one of the poorest countries in the Arab region, Yemen does not only have to battle the problems of a fragile state, but also has to deal with increasing security issues and a severe economic crisis. In this deadlocked situation, the youth should actively take part in the political transition process to create a more promising future – and it does. Within the project “Amplifying Youth Voices” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by Saferworld over 100 young leaders participate in a variety of political, social and economic movements.
