Clipboard01For more than three years Greece has been under the supervision of the troika. The beginning of Greece’s recession dates back as early as 2008. In the past years, the European Union and its member states have made numerous efforts – financially and economically – to support Greece on its way back to economic growth and stability. The reform measures of the IMF, the ECB and the EU-Commission are a prerequisite for the financial aid granted to the Hellenic Republic and its people. However, their implementation lacks effectiveness, much to the chagrin of the Greek demos who feel more and more abandoned by their European partners.

Debating Europe! – Bringing together German and Greek scholars and students

„It was just the right time to introduce such kind of project to Greek students“, UniversityoftheAegeanProf. Heinz-Jürgen Axt concluded after his second lecture in as many days. “When times are good, anybody can do pro-European showcase events. However, it is even more necessary to discuss Europe and European integration when times are rough. It is no self-adulation to argue that this has been well achieved.”

FNF teams up with European Expression to educate young Greeks about liberalism

0170This weekend, a joint seminar of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) and its partner organisation Νεολαία Ευρωπαϊκή Έκφραση („European Expression Youth”, EEY) is about to take off. Over the course of six weekends, 25 Greek students and young professionals will learn about principles of liberalism, European integration and social market economy.

Griechische Jugenddelegation zu Gesprächen in Deutschland

Auf Einladung des Brüsseler Büros der Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit (FNF) besuchte eine Delegation von sechs griechischen Nachwuchsführungskräften vom 12.-16. Oktober 2012 Deutschland, um sich über Jugendpartizipation am politischen Prozess zu informieren. Auf dem Programm standen der Besuch des 45. Bundeskongresses der Jungen Liberalen in Halle/S. sowie ein Informationsbesuch im politischen Berlin. Continue reading

Erfolgreiche Auftaktkonferenz in Griechenland

Mit einem positiven Ergebnis ging am 07.10.2012 die erste Konferenz der Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit seit Wiederaufnahme ihrer Aktivitäten in Griechenland zu Ende. Nach intensiven dreitägigen Beratungen vereinbarten die Konferenzteilnehmer eine Bündelung der liberalen Kräfte Griechenlands und eine stärkere Zusammenarbeit untereinander.
